The announcement of the 2006 NSF-CBMS Regional Research Conferences has recently been made. It is a great honor for MU that two of the four main speakers were chosen from the MU Mathematics Department. These speakers are Alex Koldobsky and Mark Rudelson. I congratulate them both on this exceptional recognition of their work and achievements.
For those unfamiliar with NSF-CBMS conferences, the format is for the main speaker to give 10 lectures over a 5-day period. Typically a monograph is subsequently produced by the speaker based on these lectures. Further information on next year's NSF-CBMS Regional Research Conferences can be found at http://www.cbmsweb.org/NSF/2006_conf.htm.
