
Professor Mitrea was a guest at the White House on Friday, December 12, 2003, where she met President George W. Bush and was honored for her part in the national MATHCOUNTS competition. She coached the Missouri team of middle school students to a second place finish at the national competition in Chicago in May. In addition, one of her students, Mario Didona, finished third nationally in the individual competition. In the team competition Missouri finished second to California, Missouri's best showing ever in MATHCOUNTS.
