Prerequisites and Placement Policies

As of Fall 2010 most math placement in MU mathematics courses is done via the ALEKS placement exam.  The new prerequisite requirements apply to all students enrolling in math courses, regardless of when they enrolled at MU.

Placement into any Math course will be based upon:

  1. Prior course credit
    • Credit for courses completed at MU
    • Transfer Credit/Dual Credit, AP/IB Credit
    • Credit by exam

    OR

  2. ALEKS Math Placement Exam Score

Prerequisites

Students who do not satisfy the course prerequisites will be unable to enroll, or will be dropped from their Math course.
