Math 8702 section 2 —Topics in Applied Mathematics: Introduction to Methods of Nonlinear Analysis

Instructor: C. Chicone

Description: We will discuss some of the main techniques and applications of modern nonlinear analysis using the book Methods in Nonlinear Analysis by Kung-Ching Chang (Springer-Verlag 2005) as a guide. In broad outline the topics of the course are linearization, fixed point methods, degree theory, minimization, and topological methods.

The course will be run in the "seminar style''; that is, students will be expected to make presentations.
