Classes:

Who: All graduate students need to register for classes. General information about registration is available from the Registrar's Website.

MyZou Implementation Note: Starting Fall 2007 semester, ALL students should use myZou to enroll in classes, check and accept financial aid and to pay their bill. Additional information and instructions are available from the Student Administration Implementation Project. For detailed instructions, please refer to the MyZou Enrollment Training Guide (pdf).

New students should have received their Pawprint and temporary password in separate emails. All students should received information from the registrar with their individual registration appointment (indicating the earliest time that they may register). Open registration (no appointment needed) starts August 15, 2007.

Math Teaching Workshop

Who: All graduate students who will be teaching College Algebra or Intermediate Algebra in Fall 07 must attend the Workshop unless they have already attended the Workshop in a previous year. You will be attending the workshop if you belong to one of the categories below:

New International students who have a Departmental Fellowship do not need to attend the Workshop.

Sandi Athanassiou, the lower division coordinator for the mathematics department, is the organizer of the Workshop. She will individually contact workshop participants with more information about the workshop and invitations to the pre-workshop reception. Please note that the reception is limited to invited workshop participants, it not a public event for the entire department.


Math TA Organizational Meetings (updated)

Who: All Teaching Assistants, new and returning.

Teaching Assistants will meet with their assigned course coordinators at a series of separate meetings to be scheduled on Thursday Aug 16 and/or Friday August 17. Specific instructions from your course coordinator may supplement or supersede any of the information below. Please read the entire list, some teaching assignments require you to attend several different sessions. Please follow all instructions from your course coordinator, and direct your questions to your course coordinator.

Who: All new graduate students should attend the orientation session at 8:30 AM - 11:30 in Jesse Hall Auditorium.


International Center: http://international.missouri.edu/isss/students-new/orientation.shtml

Who: All International students must coordinate their paperwork with the International Center. New International Students need must attend the orientation session on the afternoon of August 13, 2007. Please attend the MU Graduate Orientation in the morning, then check in before Noon at N52 Memorial Union. Lunch is provided.

International students should carefully read see the Inernational Center's webpage for New International Students.


2007 ONITA: Orientation for New International Teaching Assistants (formerly CTI)

Who: International students who need to attend ONITA will be individually notified.

Onita will start on Wed August 15 at 8:00 AM, in Townsend Hall.  For further details please consult the 2007 ONITA Flyer and the ITA website.

The Mathematics Department will register students who need to attend the ONITA and notify them by email. (Students don't need to use the registration form http://gradschool.missouri.edu/ita/downloads/cti_register.php )


2007 GATO: Graduate Assistant Teaching Orientation (formerly CTS)

Who: Students who need to attend the CTS will be individually notified.

GATO is a one-day introduction to teaching on the MU campus that is strongly recommended for all Graduate Teaching Assistants entering their first semester in an instructional capacity. This August's session will take place on Saturday, August 18, from 9:00 to 3:30, in the Engineering Building West auditorium (breakout sessions will be in other rooms in that building). Breakfast and lunch will be provided.College Teaching Seminar will start at 8:00 AM on Saturday August 18.

The Mathematics Department will register students who need to attend the GATO and notify them by email. (Students do not need to use the http://gradschool.missouri.edu/ita/downloads/cts_register.php )


Qualifying Exams

Who: Master's students do not need to take Qualifying Exams. Ph.D. Students need to attempt and pass the Qualifying Exams within certain time frames specified below. New students typically do not attempt the Qualifying Exams at the start of their studies, although they may if they believe they are prepared.
