Radial Lp-multipliers in large dimensions
Abstract: We give a full charachterization of the radial
multipliers for $L^p(R^d)$ where $d>5$ and $1<p<2(d-3)/(d-1)$.
For those who want to understand the talk better, it may be
useful to spend some time solving the following model problem:
Let $f_j$ be some $L2$ functions whose $L2$ norms are
bounded by $1$ and which are supported by
intervals of length $1$ (those may be different intervals for
different functions). It is known that for every $i,j$, one has
$|\langle f_i,f_j\rangle|\le |i-j|^{-0.1}$. Prove that for every
$p\in (1,1.01)$ and for arbitrary coefficients $c_k$, the inequality $$
\Bigl\|\sum_k c_k f_k\Bigr\|_{L^p}^p\le \text{Const\,}\sum_k |c_k|^p
$$ holds.
