MacMahon’s Formulas on the Generating
Functions of Plane Partitions
Abstract: I present the proof of P.A. MacMahon’s formulas for the
generating functions of plane partitions following the argument laid out
by George E. Andrews in The Theory of Partitions. I will conclude with
an examination of the generating functions of punctured plane partitions.
