Generating sequences of valuations
in dimension 3 function fields
Abstract: Generating sequences of valuations are proved to be a useful
tool in understanding valuations of 2-dimensional function fields. In
particular, if R is an algebraic regular local ring over k with quotient
field K, trdeg K=2, and v is a valuation of K centered in R then
specifying a generating sequence of v in R completely determines
valuation v. In this talk a construction of generating sequences of
valuations in R with trdeg K=3 will be discussed.
