Bal Sandesh Coordinator: Hema Srinivasan 
Hema Srinivasan is a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Missouri.    Her other strong interests are Carnatic music, history, Hindu philosophy and Tamil literature.  Hema has been  actively involved in the Indian cultural scene in Columbia, and has written and directed plays for children.  She also plays classical music on the veena.  She enjoys it even more when she plays veena along with her son Ashok on piano or accompanied by her daughter Maya on voice.   For the last five years, Hema has been holding a Slokam class for children which meets every Sunday.  She is married to Dale Cutkosky, who is also a Professor of Mathematics at MU, and has more than a passing interest in classical music.

Uma Srinath works as a registered dietitian at Boone Hospital Center. Her husband, Srinath Gopalakrishna, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Marketing at the College of Business, University of Missouri-Columbia. They have two children, Aditya and Meghna. When time permits, Uma likes to indulge in some of her hobbies which include reading, gardening and baking.

Leena Pattarkine (real name Mrunalini) has a Ph. D. in biochemistry and works at the Dept of Biochemistry at UMC. Her husband Vikram has a Ph. D. in Environmental Engineering from VPI &SU at Blacksburg, Virginia and works as Director, Process Engg Division for Env. Dynamics, Inc. in Columbia.  They have a twelve-year-old daughter, Uma, and a two-year-old son, Om. Leena loves music, theatre, painting, reading and cooking. She has vast experience  in coordinating numerous cultural events from her days at IIT Bombay and enjoys putting up new events.

Pramod K. Kantha is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Stephens College, Columbia Missouri. He has a Ph. D. from University of Missouri-Columbia (UMC). Pramod's spouse Rekha is a Child Care Specialist at Student Parent Center at UMC. They have three children, Sunny (15), Sneha (13) and Sajal (9). They have lived in Columbia for over ten years and have been involved in various community activities. Pramod and Rekha's interests are Indian music, films, politics, exercise and wilderness.

Sunder Lal is a Professor of Medicine, and a Nephrologist at University Hospital. His wife Nila Gupta is an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at the University. They have two children, Sheela (12), who is in 7th grade at Gentry Middle School, and Raj (10), who is a fifth grader at Mill Creek 
Elementary School. Sunder enjoys gardening and playing tennis.

Kavita Katti is a Senior Research Technician in the Department of Radiology at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Her husband Dr. Kattesh Katti is a Professor in the Departments of Radiology and Physics. They have  seven year old twins, Nahush and Sumidha.  Kavita likes gardening, Kannada literature, reading and travelling.

Meera is a Professor of Physics at the University of Missouri.  Meera and her husband Chandra have been involved with Bal Sabha for nearly ten years.  They have three children, Tara (who just finished college), Rajni and Indu (who are in high school)  Meera has a long-standing interest in Indian culture, particularly music and dance, and she has been active in programs organized by the Cultural Association of India.  She was editor of the India Nite magazine for several years, and is looking forward to new challenges as Bal Sandesh coordinator.

H.R. Chandrasekhar is a Professor of Physics at the University of Missouri-Columbia. His wife, Meera, is also a Professor of Physics at UMC. They have three daughters, twins Rajni and Indu, and older daughter Tara. H.R. Chandrasekhar (also known as Chandra) is a lover of Carnatic music, tennis, and good food.

Narenda Khengar, M.D., is a practising physician, with special interests in Internal Medicine and Nuclear Cardiology. His wife, Vibhaveri, works at University Hospitals and Clinics as a medical technician. They have a five year old daughter, Payal. Dr. Khengar is a lover of classical music, Gujrati garbas and Raas-Dandia, which he indulges in when he finds time from his busy medical practice.

Sandhya Sharma works as an Instructional Design Specialist at the Center for Distance and Independent Study, University of Missouri. She spends a lot of time editing, formatting, and presenting independent study courses online. Her husband, Krishna, works at the University of Missouri-Columbia. They have two children: a daughter, Sangita, and a son, Nikhilesh. When Sandhya is not at work or running after her two kids and their activities, she love to read. Reading is on top of her list of most favorite things to do. She also enjoys gardening, craft work, and trying out new recipes on my family and friends.

Shailesh is a bioanalytical chemist and manages a bioanalysis group at the ABC Laboratories in Columbia. His wife Vrunda is a Professor of Mathematics at William Woods University in Fulton, MO. They have two children: a son, Sagar, and a daughter, Natasha. Shailesh likes to read and play tennis and bridge.
