NSF Funds Show-Me Seminar

The National Science Foundation has contributed $9,500 to support the biannual Show-Me Seminar through fall 1998, and the four sponsoring universities have committed another $9,500. This is the first year of funding support from NSF.

The seminar is a joint venture of MU, University of Missouri-Rolla, University of Missouri-St. Louis and Washington University. It was established to bring to the region mathematicians of significant stature. Previous speakers have included Tom Wolff from California Institute of Technology, Robert Fefferman from the University of Chicago and John Burns from the Center for Optimal Design and Control, Virginia Tech.

The first Show-Me miniconference, held this April, featured Steve Krantz of Washington University, Jill Pipher of Brown University and Grant Welland of UMSL. Contributing speakers were Mark Ashbaugh and Stephen-Montgomery Smith of MU.
