Abstract: One of the unexpected surprises from the NASA/ESA Planck Surveyor Mission is the discovery of "outrageously luminous" infrared galaxies at cosmological distances.  I will describe (1) how my team of undergraduate and graduate researchers discovered these objects and confirmed their nature using the Planck, Herschel, LMT, and HST and (2) what new insights we are drawing from these remarkable objects.
