Primary Decomposition in Commutative Algebra

Abstract: We discuss primary decompositions of finitely generated modules over Noetherian rings, with emphasis on examples of irredundant primary ideal decompositions.  We study the associated prime ideals attached to a finitely generated module, and consider their equivalent incarnations regarding primary decompositions.  We present the uniqueness aspects of such decompositions and the special role that the isolated associated prime ideals play in it.
